You don’t have to be a big fan of David Cage and Quantic Dream’s games, but it’s undeniable that they end up doing great for what they are, because they end up resonating with quite a large number of people. For instance, there is Detroit: Become Human, which came out earlier this year for the PlayStation 4.
Posting on Twitter today, PlayStation revealed that the game has sold 2 million copies worldwide since it launched five months ago on May 28. Quantic Dream also tweeted in response to that one, noting that the game has become their fastest selling title ever, even more so than Heavy Rain on the PS3, which is generally considered their breakout game. Detroit’s sales are up from the 1.5 million players we were told the game had back in August.
It’s good hearing the game has done well, given that it is considered to be Quantic Dream’s best foot forward yet. I have to imagine that given the generally positive word of mouth around it, it will continue to sell well for a while to come, too.
We are thrilled to share that Detroit: Become Human has sold through more than 2 million units worldwide on PlayStation 4 since its launch on May 25, 2018. Congratulations, @Quantic_Dream! pic.twitter.com/b3xVGeerth
