Fallout 76 Will Receive New Mode Without PvP Restrictions

Bethesda hopeful to release it "sometime in the first quarter" of 2019.

Bethesda’s Fallout 76 has had its share of issues, from bugs and a lack of essential features to player details leaking via customer support. The developer is still focused on the future though – it released a new hotfix today and will have another patch coming out in mid-January. This will fix a number of issues, including the often criticized reload animation for the Lever-Action Rifle.

“Our sights are set for future updates. In mid-January, we will be releasing another patch that contains many fixes, including fixes for the Lever-Action Rifle reload animation, some perk cards, and we’re dealing some crowd control at the Whitespring by implementing a fix for the robots duplicating on the resort grounds,” reads a post on the game’s official website.

However, along with new live events coming next month, Fallout 76 will also receive an entire new mode, which will allow players to work together. Or not- but there won’t be any restrictions on PvP, apparently. “We’re also hard at work on a new mode where you can work together, or not, without PVP restrictions. We’re already having fun playing it at the office and we’re hopeful to roll it out to all of you sometime in the first quarter of the year.” So we might have to wait until as late as March 2019 for more information.

Currently, PvP in Fallout 76 relies on engaging in a formal duel with an opponent – which both players have to agree upon – which happens by attacking someone and having them respond in kind. However, this approach allows those being attacked to set up enough counter-measures, like turrets when fighting back. There’s also the “Revenge” mechanic, where players killed in combat can respawn next to their killer to continue fighting pretty much infinitely.
