Beyond Good and Evil 2 has been on or near the top of a lot of most anticipated games lists since its long-awaited reveal last year, but the latest bit of information that Ubisoft have shared about it might end up turning off a few people on it. In a Q&A update posted by them, Ubisoft confirmed that to play Beyond Good and Evil 2, you will require a persistent internet connection.

Ubisoft wrote that Beyond Good and Evil 2 will be “an online, multiplayer game with a rich co-op and seamless experience”, and that for the purpose of “seamless” navigation, receiving “dynamic” updates, and being able to play with friends, it will require your system to always be connected to the internet. While they made it clear that though the game can be played entirely by yourself, they also suggested that it’ll be better when played with friends.

Beyond Good and Evil 2 is an online, multiplayer game with a rich co-op and seamless experience,” the update reads. “As such, the game will only be playable with an internet connection in order to have seamless navigation, receive dynamic updates, and play with friends (which is certainly better when you’re playing as a Space Pirate!). The choice to play co-op, however, remains yours to make, so playing BGE2 solo is absolutely possible if you’re into that lone Space Pirate kinda thing…”

In other Beyond Good and Evil 2 news, Ubisoft recently confirmed that the ANNO team at Ubisoft Blue Byte has also joined the title’s development efforts. Meanwhile, a playable beta is also planned for it later in 2019- read all about that through here.
