Devil May Cry Series Producer Responds To Fan Demands For Dante In Super Smash Bros.

Time to start tweeting and petitioning Capcom to bring the DMC series to Switch, folks.

Devil May Cry 5 (6)

Super Smash Bros. has traditionally been a Nintendo crossover series, but with Super Smash Bros. For Wii U, and now Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the series has increasingly begun embracing the inclusion of third party characters in its roster. In fact, according to Nintendo themselves, that will be what informs their strategy for DLC characters for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

So, what about the extremely vocal contingent that seems to want Dante of Devil May Cry in Smash? Do they have any hopes of seeing their wish granted? According to Hideaki Itsuno, the producer of the Devil May Cry franchise, it’s something he is open to- but according to him, Devil May Cry needs to be on Switch first.

“Well, you think about it… I’m pretty sure that they… all the characters in Smash at least have some game on a Nintendo platform, right? Well, that’s the thing. Devil May Cry has never been on a Nintendo platform. So it seems like the first thing to do would be to get Capcom to put Devil May Cry on a Nintendo platform in some way, shape or form – whatever game that might be. Tell [them]!” Itsuno said, in an interview with VG247.

You heard the man folks, time to start tweeting and petitioning Capcom to bring Devil May Cry to Nintendo. To be fair, however, between Ken, Ryu, Mega Man, and Rathalos from Monster Hunter, Capcom already has a lot of Super Smash Bros. representation. It’s entirely possible Nintendo’s eyes are elsewhere now.
