If you were hoping that Assassin’s Creed would ever revert to its older formula and game style, and that the sojourns into the RPG realm via Assassin’s Creed Origins and Odyssey would just be temporary, there’s some bad news for you.
Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemot said during the company’s financial call that Assassin’s Creed Odyssey has “exceeded [the company’s] expectations by every metric”. He went on to call the series a “major RPG brand”, which firmly confirms that the games will only delve deeper into their RPG elements from now on. This, of course, is in line with what the developers have said before, about wanting to turn Assassin’s Creed into a full fledged RPG (and something that was squarely the emphasis during the development of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey).
If you are a fan of the older style Assassin’s Creed games, Assassin’s Creed 3 Remastered, which will also include Assassin’s Creed 3 Liberation, will launch on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC soon. So at least there is that to look forward to.
