Originally announced all the way back in 2016, Oddworld: Soulstorm hasn’t seen very many development updates or new information since then- but we do know it’s coming. And recently, at Unity’s GDC 2019 panel, longtime Oddworld custodian Lorne Lanning pulled back the curtain a bit on the upcoming sequel/re-imagining.

Oddword: Soulstorme is being built on the Unity engine, and a trailer was released, showing off a scene from the game that shows the graphical leap that has been made thanks to the toolset being used. It really is looking like a leap with plenty of detail in the visuals department, and for those looking for a taste of what the game will look like might want to take a look. It’s not a very substantial trailer, but it’s something- check it out below.

Being developed as a re-imagining to 1998’s Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus and a sequel to the 2014 title Oddworld: New ‘n’ TastyOddworld: Soulstorm is looking to be something of a darker take on the series- relatively speaking. It’s due out some time in 2020.
