The likes of EA and Sony might not be attending E3 this year, but others like Ubisoft and Bethesda have already confirmed that they’re going to be there, while Microsoft is planning to have a huge show as well. Now, the final piece of the puzzle has fallen into place, as Nintendo’s webpage for E3 2019 has gone live.
“It’s almost that time of year,” the page reads, “and we’re as excited as you are! Luckily, you can learn about all the newest game announcements, tournament news, and Nintendo’s E3 plans right here, so stay tuned.”
As has been the case for a few years now, we can probably assume that Nintendo will once again be airing a Direct rather than doing a live stage show. Over the past couple of years, Nintendo have usually made one single game the centre of attention at their E3 shows. Though other announcements are also made, the last three years have seen The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate taking centerstage.
This year could see them following a similar pattern- Super Mario Maker 2 is due out not longer after E3 2019 wraps up, while Pokemon Sword and Shield, another megaton Switch exclusive, is also due out later this year. Alternatively, we could see Nintendo switching things up and not focusing as much on a single title this year, and maybe even making some more new announcements (not that the Switch has any need of those for the foreseeable future).
