Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is the newest game from FromSoftware, released to universal acclaim (you can read our review here) and what seems to be strong sales.

The game, however, has also rekindled a discussion about difficulty options in video games. Sekiro has been noted for its unforgiving difficulty with no easy mode, much like its quasi-predecessors in the Dark Souls lineage of games. But unlike those games, which featured online co-op features that allowed players to leave helpful messages or outright team up with others to beat difficult sections, Sekiro is a purely single-player experience with no online component. This has given rise to debate from many corners of the industry about whether the game (and by extension games as a whole) has an issue with accessibility, particularly to those with disabilities.

Regardless of which side of the debate you fall on, those wanting an easier time have a bit of relief with a recently released mod for the PC version of the game. It slows down the player and speed of the game, allowing players an easier time for blocking and parrying, which is the essence of the game’s fast-paced gameplay.

The mod also adds several other features, including FOV sliders, unlocked framerate, support for 21/9 widescreen monitors, and a host of other stuff. You can read more about it and download it here.

Those struggling on consoles unfortunately won’t have access to the mod, but you can check out our video game tips section filled with helpful hints on the game and guides for bosses. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
