Ghost of Tsushima Job Listing Suggests Bulk of Writing Still Needs to Be Done

Sucker Punch's action adventure title might not be as far along in development as we may have thought.

Ghost of Tsushimaalongside the likes of The Last of Us – Part 2 and Death Stranding, is evidence that in spite of nearing the end of its life, the PS4 still has a lot of big hitters to deliver. In spite of a couple of showings though, we haven’t received any indication as to when Sucker Punch’s open world samurai action adventure title might release- we’ve just sort of assumed that it might be coming within a year or a year and a half from now.

However, a recent job listing (via Gamasutra) posted by the developers might suggest that the game might not be as far along in development as we may have assumed. A listing for for a Narrative Writer suggests that the bulk of the game’s writing is still yet to be done and dusted, while repeated mention of completing said work under “tight deadlines” also makes it clear that the studio might be looking to fast-track work on the game in order to release within a decent timeframe.

Responsibilities in the job ad are mentioned as writing “high quality dialogue under tight deadlines”, writing entire missions for the open world title, as well as contributing to secondary narrative areas of the game, such as dialogue barks, or writing for marketing material.

The sheer volume of the work Sucker Punch is still looking to do suggests that there’s a lot that needs to be done. Meanwhile, the job ad also mentions that the applicant should have the “ability to pitch, write, iterate, and revise work under tight deadlines”. There’s that mention of tight deadlines again.

With all of that said, it’s worth noting that all of this is purely conjecture. It’s possible that a large majority of missions have been written, and the work Sucker Punch is looking to get down now is whatever might be left, with some ancillary optional quests or supporting characters. But then again- that, too, is conjecture.

Either way, stay tuned to GamingBolt, and we’ll keep you updated in case there are any developments on this front.
