Resident Evil 3 Remake Potentially Getting Teased on Twitter – Rumor

Is Capcom just being cheeky, or are they hinting at something here?

With the massive critical and commercial success of the Resident Evil 2 remake, it seems a forgone conclusion that a remake of the sequel, Resident Evil 3, is coming as well. Both are from the same generation of consoles and take place in the same setting of Raccoon City (though 3 expands the city far more than 2 did). There’s even rumors swirling that a remake of the game is much closer than we think. A couple of tweets from Capcom’s official Resident Evil Twitter might be teasing it a bit, too.

The first, posted April 15th, shows Jill in the remake of the original Resident Evil (Jill is the sole protagonist of Resident Evil 3), with the caption “Ever feel like somebody’s watching you…?” If you’re the kind who reads between the lines, that might seem like a reference to Resident Evil 3’s infamous main antagonist- Nemesis. Nemesis was a Tyrant-grade enemy similar to Resident Evil 2’s Mr. X, who stalked Jill throughout the original game and would pop up unexpectedly at the worst of times. Basically an early version of the ‘stalker’ enemy that’s become all the rage in modern horror games.

The second tweet, from yesterday, is from the Resident Evil 2 remake, and sees Claire staring at a hole in the wall captioned, “Clearly something or someone doesn’t understand the concept of doors… What do YOU think happened to the wall here?” Nemesis also wasn’t too fond of doors (or windows for that matter), and was known to break through a few walls in RE3.

You can check out the tweets below and see what you think. It could just be the official Twitter having a bit of fun with recent rumors – if that – but if the pattern continues, there may be more here.

Resident Evil 3 was released on the original PlayStation in 1999. It’s since been ported to a variety of consoles. With the release of the Resident Evil 2 in January, it is now the last of the original mainline PlayStation releases to not have an official remake.
