Control Developers Would Like To Make Sequels

"Control is a world that we do want to expand on," says Remedy's director of communications Thomas Puha.

Remedy Entertainment will be launching a new IP with the upcoming Control very soon, and not for the first time. But while in the past, sequels for games like Alan Wake and Quantum Break have failed to show up, the developer is hoping that things will be different with Control.

Speaking with EDGE in their June 2019 issue (Issue 332), Remedy Entertainment’s director of communications Thomas Puha said that with Control, the studio is building a world and a series that they have the potential to keep adding to, and that sequels to the upcoming action adventure title are something they’d like to do in the future- especially considering the fact that in spite of their publishing deal with 505 Games, Remedy still hold the rights to the Control IP itself.

Control is a relatively traditional single player game,” said Puha. “It does have a limited lifespan, in that sense. And nobody here is, like, overestimating what can we do post-launch to a single player game. But the fiction of the game and the way the world is built is very suitable for us to add things to it. Control is a world that we do want to expand on, and of course you want to make sequels. And what we have wanted to do in the last couple of years, one of the reasons we signed with 505 Games – well, they let us keep the IP, but we also have the freedom to experiment a little bit post-launch.”

Speaking of post-launch plans, Remedy have already announced two expansions for Controlthe first of which is scheduled for a release in Winter of this yearControl itself is due out on August 27 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC (where it will be available exclusively on the Epic Games Store for a year).
