Reconstruction work is currently underway on the Notre-Dame de Paris following a brutal fire that broke out last week. Ubisoft, which is based in France, had announced after the incident that it would be donating €500,000 to the reconstruction. It also made Assassin’s Creed: Unity free for a limited time and invited players to donate towards the reconstruction.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, it saw a pretty strong response. Assassin’s Creed: Unity was downloaded by three million users after going free. Though the game had a fairly disastrous launch in November 2014, it was improved with numerous updates over the months.

It also gained a fair amount of recognition for its in-game portrayal of the Notre-Dame. Senior level artist Caroline Miousse spent a staggering two years recreating the landmark (with a few creative liberties taken in adherence to copyright law). As far as appreciating the beauty of France during the French Revolution along with the series’ old-school stealth, Assassin’s Creed: Unity is definitely worth checking.
