Infinity Ward are next in line for this year’s instalment of Activision’s Call of Duty, rumoured to be Modern Warfare 4. The developers have spoken in the past about how it’s the most ambitious game they’ve ever made, and now Activision has backed up those claims.

Speaking during their recent quarterly financial results conference (via MP1st), Activision acknowledged the need for Call of Duty 2019 to “maintain the breadth” of the massive numbers of players the series attract every year, and the developers are hard at work to that end. The publisher also confirmed that content in the title, both at launch and following launch, would bring “game-changing experiences”.

“We also recognize that we need to do even more to maintain the breadth of our Call of Duty player base beyond the launch quarters and the Call of Duty team is hard at work on that for this fall’s big content release excitement for which is incredibly high around the organization,” said Activision exec Collister Johnson. “We expect that both the launch and post-launch content will bring game-changing experiences to our fans.”

We haven’t heard a lot about this year’s Call of Duty release, which isn’t surprising, given that it hasn’t even been officially announced yet. We do know that it touts a campaign, unlike Black Ops 4, while rumours have also suggested that it won’t have a battle royale modeunlike Black Ops 4. Either way, we should be learning more soon- Activision have confirmed that the game will be revealed officially before June 30th.
