The Last of Us – Part 2’s development seems to be progressing at a rapid pace. Not too long ago, Naughty Dog confirmed that filming for all scenes in the game had officially wrapped up, and now it seems that the game is close to completion in other areas as well- at least based on a tweet put up by co-game director Anthony Newman.
Newman’s tweet talks about new positions open at Naughty Dog, with the studio looking to hire people in multiple positions, including Interactive Cinematic Animator, Melee Animator, Level Lighting Artist, Gameplay Programmer, Multiplayer Server Programmer, Level / Environment Designer, Narrative Designer, Environment Artist, and many more. What’s interesting is that Newman’s tweet mentions that Naughty Dog are looking to hire people to “help us close out this game.”
While that statement might seem contradictory to just how many positions Naughty Dog is looking to hire people in, there are a couple of things to consider. For starters, it’s possible that primary development in these areas (or some of them) has wrapped up, and Naughty Dog is looking to bolster those areas to help them polish it all up and wrap it in a bow. It’s also possible that these new recruits are being hired primarily to help Naughty Dog with a new project, but will, of course, also be helping with wrapping up development on The Last of Us – Part 2.
That’s all speculation, but there have been plenty of rumblings that The Last of Us – Part 2 might be out later this year. Some reports have also suggested that Sony and Naughty Dog will be sharing an update on the game before E3- read more on that through here.
