The remake of Final Fantasy 7 is finally upon us, and fans are hyped. The decision to cut the game into parts also doesn’t seem to have any effect based on the level of excitement it received at E3. But it does make some wonder just how long it’ll be until the project as a whole is complete. The first part, that we now know will come in March next year, was originally unveiled all the way back at E3 2015. That will mean that almost five full years will have passed for the game to actually see release. Will we have to wait that long per episode? Well, Producer Yoshinori Kitase wants to assure us that we won’t.

On a Twitter thread from the official game’s page, they show excerpts from an upcoming interview with Kitase. In it he says that later episodes will come at a quicker pace. For one, the development on the upcoming first part was overhauled, and they now have a better idea of what their process is going to be, which he thinks will make them more efficient as they lay out plans for future episodes.

He also highlights the reason the first part is focused solely on Midgar is to flesh out what he sees as the grounding element of the game more than any other location. You can check out all the quotes below.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake will release on March 3, 2020 for PlayStation 4. In the meantime, check out the game’s fantastic gameplay debut.
