Microsoft’s backwards compatibility program, coupled with its policy of enhancing games for the Xbox One X, has been an incredibly welcome thing for fans who like to go back to some older games. While Nintendo and Sony both decided not to pursue any form of native hardware BC, Microsoft has done so pretty extensively since it was announced for the Xbox One. Sadly, though, it seems as if it’s now coming to an end.

Microsoft recently announced what the final list of 23 games that will be backward compatible to the Xbox One, and 8 that will be enhanced on the Xbox One X. You can check out the full list of the games below.

With that announcement, as unfortunate as it may be, comes some good news. It does say that they are looking to preserve the library that has been built up over these three generations of Xbox consoles with the next piece of hardware that they’re currently calling Scarlett, something they’ve talked about before. So it seems that the practice will continue in some form with the next Xbox.
