The next generation of consoles isn’t even out yet, and already it seems like the old console wars are heating up. Last week, before E3, we reported that a journalist from Game Informer had heard whispers that the PS5 would actually be more powerful than the Scarlett, repeating the start of this generation’s base console releases. Now, more rumors to the same effect are being murmured, allegedly coming from developers themselves.

On an episode of his podcast, former IGN Editor Colin Moriarty said he’d spoken to several developers who had worked with devkits of both machines, and they all seemed to agree that out of the two, from a pure raw power perspective, the PS5 has it over the Scarlett. You can listen below.

Now, of course, we have to file this under speculation for the time being, but it does seems like there’s a lot of similar talk swarming around as of now. We won’t know until the systems are officially revealed, probably not even until they’re on shelves. Still, it would be an interesting repeat of this generation. Only time will tell.
