A Way Out’s Director Says Next Game Is Multiplayer Focused Again With Lots Of Surprises And Mechanics

He says that people won't know what to think.

A Way Out

Josef Fares is an…eccentric fellow. He’s the Director of A Way Out and head of Hazelight Studios. A Way Out was an interesting co-op only title that was unique in how it handled the multiplayer aspect. Fares talked about his next title, in the way only he can, and how he’s not finished with the multiplayer experimentation yet.

In an interview with VG 24/7, he talked about the new game. While he doesn’t go into any specifics, he mentions that it will, again, be a multiplayer focused title and one that will be very surprising to everyone, and a game that’s designed to give the player a steady amount of surprises. He doesn’t say it…quite that way, though. Well, you can read it in his own words.

“What I can say is it’s not A Way Out 2, But if you look at Brothers, A Way Out, and the next game, you will see it’s the same studio that makes the game. But it will be something completely, totally different and it will be way more focused on trying to make the mechanics a part of the game.

“I believe there’s a lot of potential in telling great stories for more than one person. If you look at the movies today, when we look at them we look at them together, we experience stories together. I believe that multiplayer story games are underestimated – there’s a lot of potential there that I’d like to explore.

“The next game is going to an insane game mechanically. It’s going to be, oh my god, there’s so much mechanics – it’s impossible to get tired of it. You will be like ‘What the f**k? What, what, what?’ It’s going to be like that. You’re going to get f**ked every 30 minutes. It’s not a sex game but you’re going to get f**ked, trust me.”

Well, alright then. Whatever it is, sounds like it’ll be quite the trip. We’ll keep our eyes out for whenever the game is officially unveiled. Until then you can check his last title in A Way Out, which is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, and should be coming to EA Access soon.
