CD Projekt RED has announced that it’s collaborating with Swedish punk rock band Refused for Cyberpunk 2077. The band is involved in writing and recording an EP for the fictional chrome rock band SAMURAI and will even serve as their official voice. Tracks inspired by the source material as well as original music exclusive to the game will be produced.

Marcin Przybyłowicz, CD Projekt RED’s music director, stated, “I’m incredibly excited about having Refused on board for Cyberpunk 2077. I know for a fact there are a lot of fans of the band at the studio, including Piotr Adamczyk, one of the composers working on the game, who came to me with the idea for this collaboration. I’m very happy he did, because the massive riffs, powerful drums, and hard-hitting vocals the guys from Refused deliver as SAMURAI have blown me away. I can wholeheartedly say the punk factor of Cyberpunk 2077’s music is through the roof!”

Refused lead vocalist Dennis Lyxzén said, “Like us, SAMURAI is a group of rebels, albeit in a different time and place. Working together with CD PROJEKT RED, writing music and song lyrics for Cyberpunk’s chrome rock icon was fun, but also very different in the creative sense. It was an unexpected challenge that turned out to be right up our alley and really got us going. The songs turned out great and the game looks insane.”

You can listen to the first track, Chippin’ In, by Refused as SAMURAI below. Cyberpunk 2077 is out on April 16th, 2020 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Though new gameplay was revealed behind closed doors at E3 2019, CD Projekt RED has confirmed that this demo will be revealed in August at PAX West to the general public. Other details we’ve since learned include the lack of a morality system and the game’s installation size.

It also seems that Cyberpunk 2077 won’t be the last project set in that universe. CD Projekt RED has confirmed that a total of three projects are in development, including a multiplayer title and another major game.
