Cyberpunk 2077 Wants To Make You Cry, According To Lead Quest Designer

Some quests promise to get emotional.

Cyberpunk 2077

When it comes to discussion on the much anticipated Cyberpunk 2077, it’s mostly been about the super cool world the game is creating (and Keanu Reeves, can’t forget about that). But not a lot of people have been wondering about what kind of emotion you’ll be feeling, because, well…that’s just not the type of game people are expecting. Lead Quest Designer Paweł Sasko is thinking about that, though, and he’s hoping to make you cry.

In an interview with Game Reactor, Sasko talked about the game’s multiple quests and said he felt people will be surprised by the level of emotion that we’ll get with quests in the game. He even said that some are going to tug so much at the heartstrings, he thinks it’ll make you cry. Sasko promises a variety of emotions, too, but the tears are going to be the most powerful he believes.

“Believe me guys, what we are doing here – we are going to make you cry, there’s no other way. Believe me, we’ll do everything to just grab the player and keep them glued to the screen.

“I think there’s gonna be joy, there’s gonna be tears, and there’s gonna be laughter, and yeah there’s gonna be anger. We are going to give you all that, because this is what we are doing. Like that’s one of my main goals – I wanna move the players, like they are going to feel it so hard, and we are coming for you.”

While most probably wouldn’t call The Witcher 3’s quests ‘moving’, I would wager, they were universally praised for their writing and pacing, so Cyberpunk 2077 has a lot to live up to in that regard. We’ll find out if tears will flow when the game releases April 16th, 2020 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
