Evil Genius 2

Rebellion’s Evil Genius 2: World Domination had its fair share of excitement upon being revealed at The PC Gaming Show this year. Not only was it the long-awaited sequel to a cult classic, which released in 2004, but it seems to expand on the original in every way. Interestingly, it was also one of the few games at the show to not be exclusive to the Epic Games Store.

WCCF Tech spoke to producer Ash Tregay and art lead Ian Pestridge about this as well as inquiring about post-launch paid content. Regarding the latter, Tregay said that, “Maybe it’s a little early to talk about this, so there are still no plans in place, but it’s obviously something that we are interested in exploring. If you look at titles like Sniper Elite, Strange Brigade, we have a good history of expanding our games after release. What I can tell you is that Evil Genius 2 is absolutely not going to get loot boxes.”

As for the Epic Games Store, Tregay was asked whether about his thoughts on it. Wouldn’t it offer more exposure for the sequel? His response: “I think the Epic Games Store being a thing is healthy. I think competition is always healthy. For Evil Genius 2, we have announced a Steam release so far, it’s always been a great partner to us for our other titles and it’s always been a good fit.”

As for whether we’ll see the game on consoles, Tregay said that the focus is currently on delivering the best PC version possible. This is due to the hardcore audience being on PC. Still, if the game is successful enough, we could see it on Xbox One and PS4 in the future. In the meantime, Evil Genius 2 is slated to release in 2020 via Steam.
