Elden Ring Won’t Be Present At Gamescom 2019

Publisher Bandai Namco confirms FromSoftware's open world title won't be seeing the limelight just yet.

FromSoftware’s upcoming Elden Ring is a game we’re all very excited about (to say the least). Not just because it’s made by FromSoftware (which would have been enough of a reason, to be honest), but also because of its collaboration with George R.R. Martin, and the fact that it seems to be trying a lot of new things, but at the same time is harkening back to From’s best work as well.

But it’s going to be a while yet before we see it in action. With E3 2019 having wrapped up over a month ago, the next big gaming event coming up is Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, taking place from August 20th to 24th. Bandai Namco – who’re publishing Elden Ring – recently revealed the full lineup of games that’ll be present and playable at their booth at the show, and confirmed via omission that FromSoftware’s upcoming expo will be absent.

That, of course, makes sense, since Elden Ring was only just announced, and we haven’t even seen a single second of gameplay yet- which means it’s not far enough along in its development where From feel comfortable showing it off to the masses, much less making it playable.

As for what Bandai Namco will be bringing, there’s Supermassive Games’ Man of Medanwhich launches days after Gamescom ends, on August 30. There’s Dragon Ball Z: Kakarotmaking it the first time the game would be playable to European audiences. There’s also Code Veinwhich launches a month after Gamescom has ended, on September 27. Finally, they’re also bringing Rad, One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4, One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows, and Disney Tsum Tsum.
