Square Enix announced during the Dragon Quest Summer Festival 2019 in Tokyo that they’ll be releasing a demo for Switch players to try out Dragon Quest 11 S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition soon (via Gematsu). Though they did not give an exact release date for when the demo will be out, seeing as the game releases next month, it’s obviously going to go live not very long from now. There’s also no word yet on whether the demo will be available worldwide, or just in Japan.

Those who play the demo will be able to transfer their save data to the full game when it releases. Doing so will net you with a Skill Seed in the game. On top of that, save data from the demo will also reward you with the premium hero card The One Descended from Erdrick [S], which you will then be able to use in the Switch free-to-play card battle title Dragon Quest Rivals.

Additionally, Square Enix also confirmed that Dragon Quest 11 S will also allow players to visit the world of Dragon Quest 10 – the MMORPG that never saw a western release – as part of its mechanic that allows players to travel to worlds from previous titles in the series. An enhanced version of Draconian Mode – the harder difficulty option in the game – will also be available, with Super Shypox enabled, which sees all your party members being inflicted by the Shypox spell.

Dragon Quest 11 S itself is out for the Switch on September 27, after recently having gone gold. You can read our review from the base game – which released in the west last year – through here.
