One of the aspects of 2015’s The Witcher 3 that made it so acclaimed was its writing, which was considered incredibly well done and sharp, especially for a video game. Developer CD Projekt RED aims to continue that trend with their hotly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077, saying they want to create a story aimed at adults with themes that some often shy away from.
In an interview with Polish Radio, which you can see below, Lead Quest Designer Pawel Sasko said that the game’s story will be made with an adult audience in mind. He says it will tackle things in not so black and white ways, making you question the morality of V, your main player character, and the actions he/she is ultimately forced into. He also promises the game will tackle some themes that many shy away from, but ones 2077 will tackle head on (thanks to Reddit user OneWingedHawk for translations).
We haven’t heard a lot of in-depth aspects of the game’s plot, outside what role Keanu Reeves is playing, but it certainly seems that CDPR is writing a lot of checks. If anyone can cash them, it’s probably them. We’ll find out when Cyberpunk 2077 releases on April 16th of 2020.
