RAGE: id Software Comments About Installation On Xbox 360

Posted By | On 23rd, Aug. 2011

Earlier in the month we had reported that Rage takes 21-22GB of disc space when installed on the Xbox 360 which created quite a discussion on the internet.

In an interview by Gamereactor, Tim Willits, creative director at id Software has some good news for people who are planning to buy the Xbox 360 version of Rage. Gamers can install/uninstall the game disc by disc meaning there is no really no need to install all the three discs at one go.

What we recommend is that you install the game to your 360. Now we discovered that you don’t have to install all three discs. So if you are a little tight on space so you can go ahead and install the first one, and when you get to a certain point in the game or when you move on to the next chapter you can actually uninstall the first disc and install the second disc. There is really no reason to install the multiplayer disc really. I wont install it on my Xbox cause its really not needed. Ultimately it will be great to put all three of them but if you are worried about space, dont stress about it.

I think Tim definitely has a point. We should all enjoy about the game rather then worry about the install size and time. But I wonder how it will actually work. Can the players install discs in any order or will it be order specific? Will it follow the style of MGS1 on the PlayStation One, where the system will ask for a second disk? All these questions remains unanswered.

We will know more when Rage hits this October on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Also do check out the full interview at Gamereactor because it is simply awesome.
