Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey looks like a very unique game, letting its players loose in pre-historic Africa and tasking them with survival in its harsh environments, while charting millions of years of the ape’s evolution. Though there’s a very fundamental narrative at play, the vast majority of the experience is all about what the player may or may not choose to do, and how that affects everything around you- and that is exactly what the newest video for the game goes over in detail.
In the video, Game Director Patrice Désilets talks about things such as skill trees and progression mechanics, and how they’re hugely dependent on what you’re doing in the game’s world and what things you’re learning and picking up while you do those things. Désilets talks about how each playthrough holds the potential of being completely different from all the rest for this very reason. Take a look below.
Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is out on August 27th for PC, while an Xbox One and PS4 launch is also scheduled for later this year.
