Sony revealed the partial spec list for the PS5 earlier in the year, and though the system’s inclusion of an SSD is definitely the one thing that has captured headlines the most, another impressive bit of hardware the system is boasting of is its AMD Radeon Navi GPU, boasting an eight core 7nm Zen 2 microarchitecture.

AMD themselves have shared a few details on this as well, while they’ve also expressed their excitement about how it’s being made use of in the PS5. But now, new details might be coming in that could shed greater light on what the PS5’s GPU will be like.

As per @isaparrot – an insider with a proven track record, especially in the early years of this current generation – claims that the PS5’s GPU will be clocked at 2 Ghz, which equates to 9.2 TFLOPS on the RDNA architecture, and to 14 TFLOPS on the the GCN architecture. This means that the system’s GPU will be more than twice as powerful as the Xbox One X, and will be roughly as powerful as an RTX2080.

There’s no way to confirm this report or its validity, so file it away as a rumour for now, but it would seem in line with what Sony’s aspirations for the system seem to be. Also as per a rumour, the PS5 will be formally unveiled in full by Sony in February 2020– so we might find out how accurate this leak is in a few months from now.
