Original Story:

Microsoft’s Xbox Game Studios have, in a relatively short time, grew with several key acquisitions over the last year. With buying the likes of smaller studios such as Ninja Theory and Double Fine, the company now has quite the list of developers under its belt. The inevitable question comes now: who’s next? Well, undoubtedly someone will be next, but for now the company seems to be satisfied where they’re at.

In an interview with Twinfinite, Microsoft’s Aaron Greensberg discussed a lot about the current state of Xbox Game Studios. When it came to talking about acquisitions, he put over how much talent they currently have and that, for the time being, and for now, they’re satisfied with everything they can cover with these studios- but leaves the door open for more studios to be purchased by Microsoft in the future.

“It’s been exciting and it’s been great getting to know all these teams, going out and sitting down with Ninja Theory, or the team at Obsidian or inXile, and seeing the stuff that they’re working on now that people know about and the secret things they have in the works that people don’t know about yet,” said Greenberg. “We’ll in time be sharing more about those.

“I think we feel good about the level of content we have coming from our internal studios, but we felt good about that and then the opportunity with Double Fine came and that was a perfect fit.

“You never know, but right now I think where we are, with our 15 internal studios, we feel really good about the amount of content we’re getting from that, whether it’s supporting Project Scarlett, or supporting Xbox Games Pass on PC and console, we feel like we have a healthy set of content across multiple genres, multiple game types, that will excite our fans.”

While there has been mentions of wanting to get a Japanese studio of some sort to help the company in that region, there’s never been any credible rumor or speculation that any such purchase is coming. Whether it’ll happen at some point is up in the air, but it’s clear to see that Microsoft are happy with the position they’ve worked to get to over the last year. Let’s hope it pays off.
