Over the last couple of days, The Pokemon Company has been teasing a new Pokemon. Many had been speculating that they’d finally reveal an evolution for the Gen 1 Pokemon Farfetch’d- and that is exactly what they have done. The Pokemon is called Sirfetch’d- take a look at it in action in its reveal video below. Here’s the catch though- Sirfetch’d will be available exclusively in Pokemon Sword. Planning on getting Shield? Tough luck.
Sirfetch’d is described as a “wild duck Pokemon”, and carries a makeshift shield in one hand (or wing) and a leek that functions like a sword in the other. Its a Fighting type Pokemon, which is particularly interesting- in that it’s solely a Fighting type, and has nothing to do with the Flying typeset at all. Its Pokedex entry is also pretty interesting: “Only Farfetch’d that have survived many battles can attain this evolution. When this Pokémon’s leek withers, it will retire from combat.”
Pokemon Sword and Shield are out for the Switch on November 15.
