Time and time again, Kojima has tried to explain the concept of a “Strange game”, but it’s only in the last couple of weeks that it’s become a little clearer, with the game’s long-awaited big gameplay blowout at TGS. That gameplay presentation was, of course, in Japanese, but recently IGN uploaded it with full English subtitles, thanks to which some interesting new details about the game have surfaced.

At a certain point during the demonstration, Kojima explains that players can eventually transform the world of Death Stranding by building things such as roads, highways, bridges, and safehouses where before there was nothing at all. Roads and highways and bridges are built if a lot of players traverse over the same paths a lot, and once they’ve been built, the name of the player who made the biggest contribution is shown.

Players can also drop likes for these structures to help improve them even further. Players can together also build safehouses, and you can help with their construction by dropping supplies where they’re being built. Take a look at the video below. The relevant portion has been timestamped, so just hit play.

Death Stranding is out on November 8th for the PS4, and if Kojima has his way, that won’t be the last time we see this IP. Kojima recently also talked about whether or not he feels players will use the game’s multiplayer elements to intentionally mess with each other. Read more on that through here.
