Battlefield 5 – Operation Underground Out Today, New Details Revealed

A new map is rolling out for Battlefield 5 today, though it might be familiar to fans of Battlefield 3. Operation Underground is a claustrophobic fight in the subway of a German city in ruins. It’s a successor to Battlefield 3’s beloved Operation Metro, to the extent that DICE actually had the original designer in charge.

In a new update, the DICE’s Jonas Elfving said that, “With our original designer of Métro at the helm, Operation Underground keeps the former map’s intense close-quarter combat in a highly recognizable environment and removes bottlenecks that could make a match stale. In addition, new flanking routes and gameplay dynamics are added to double down on the fun.”

Operation Underground can be played in a variety of different modes such as Conquest, Breakthrough, Team Deathmatch and so on. It will also support Rush. As an Infantry-only map, it has three key Capture Points – Point A at Crossroads, Point B at Train Station and Point C at Plaza. While Crossroads has a number of streets, courtyards and buildings, it’s the Train Station where things get hectic.

There are more opportunities to flank and capture Point B but beware. Flooding will cause certain shortcuts to close. Plaza represents the German side’s command center and features a large town hall. Stay tuned for more details on the Operation Underground update when it goes live.
