Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s Discovery Tour Surpasses 2.3 Million Players

A casual stroll through Ancient Greece sounds very nice indeed.

Ubisoft’s post-launch support for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey has been absolutely stellar. Though it’s now winding down, in the time since the game’s launch, it’s received two meaty paid expansions, multiple free quests, constant updates, a story creator mode, and – similar to Assassin’s Creed Origins – a Discovery Tour mode, allowing players to explore the game’s vast, detailed, and beautiful open world with no combat or missions to worry about in a completely freeform fashion.

And that Discovery Tour mode, it seems, has been very successful. Ubisoft’s Content Director and Historian on Assassin’s Creed, Maxime Durand, recently revealed while speaking at the Ubisoft: Keys to Learn event (via PCGamesN) that Discovery Tour has now been played by over 2.3 million players. The mode also has plenty of educational value, with 1,300 students in history classes in Montreal alone have played the mode last year. In Durand’s words, the success of Discovery Tour has been “far, far beyond” what Ubisoft imagined.

With Assassin’s Creed Origins and Odyssey both having had the mode, one has to wonder whether Assassin’s Creed 2020 will also have it. Though with the game reportedly being set during Viking times, one also has to wonder how it would work.
