Christmas in a few weeks but Ubisoft Massive’s The Division 2 is getting in on the celebrations early. On December 10th, Title Update 6.1 will drop and features a new event called Situation: Snowball. Essentially, players will have to hunt down foes wearing Santa Hats.

Doing so will unlock a weapon that fires snowballs. If you login before the event ends in January, you can receive your own Santa Hat. Other cosmetics will also be available to earn as part of the Silent Night apparel event. There will be caches available which contain 35 new items with everyone receiving a free key to open them. If you’re a Year One Pass holder, you get four keys in total.

Perhaps the biggest part of this update, however, is the addition of Hardcore Mode. You create a fresh agent to take on all other game modes, from the Dark Zone to raids, and dying means your playthrough is over. Hardcore players can only play with each other and won’t have access to other items – if you reach Level 2 in Hardcore, you get a free YOLO Hat. The mode will be in beta stage at launch with the developer seeking feedback.
