Nintendo Is Planning at Least Two More Wii U Ports for the Switch in 2020 – Rumour

Apparently, they're not hard to guess.

As we head into 2020, Nintendo’s lineup of releases for the year is looking a little sparse, with Animal Crossing: New Horizons being the one of the only new major first party games confirmed to release for the Switch this year. And as has often been the case over the past couple of years, it seems Nintendo might consider porting Wii U titles to the Switch to pad out their schedule for 2020 a little bit.

That’s as per Emily Rogers, a known Nintendo insider with a long and proven track record, who recently took to ResetEra to confirm that Nintendo has “at least two more unannounced Wii U ports” coming to the Switch this year, before adding, “They are not difficult to guess because there aren’t many Wii U games left to port.”

Nintendo have already announced two remastered releases for the Switch this year with Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore and Xenoblade Chronicles – Definitive Editionbut looking at the Wii U’s library, we can narrow down the possibilities for even further ports quite a bit. The likes of The Wonderful 101, Pikmin 3, Super Mario 3D World, Xenoblade Chronicles X, The Wind Waker HD, and Twilight Princess HD are the only major Wii U games left that haven’t been ported to the Switch- personally, I wouldn’t mind seeing remasters for any of them (especially Mario).

Rogers also said in her post that Nintendo are treating Animal Crossing: New Horizons as their big first half of the year release, and that they’ll probably be focusing on that along with ports for the coming few months before stuffing the back half of the year with more major new releases- similar to how they have operated over the past two years.

What these new releases – ports or otherwise – are going to be remains to be seen, but there’s a chance that an upcoming Nintendo Direct might give us a fair idea. Read more on that through here.
