PlayStation Twitter Activity Might Have Lent Some Credibility To Recent PS5 Leak

Will Sony just announce the reveal event already?

Questions about when Sony will be unveiling the PS5 have been growing more rampant by the day, especially in light of their announcement that they won’t be attending E3 2020. However, some recent (seemingly) minor developments might be hinting at some major announcements to come in the coming weeks.

As PushSquare points out, the PlayStation Europe official Twitter account recently changed its bio, removing the slogans its usually gone with throughout the years (those being either “‘For the Players” or “Best Place to Play”) and replaced it with something new- it now says “It’s time to play.”

So why is this interesting? Well, there was a new alleged leak concerning the PS5 on 4chan over a week ago. Usually, it’s best not to put too much stock in such leaks – especially ones comes from 4chan – and it’s not like there’s any shortage of them either. However, this leak, interestingly enough, mentioned that the PS5’s slogan was going to be “It’s time to play”- a weak before PlayStation Europe changed their Twitter bio.

And though that’s not exactly solid proof, it does lend some weight to the possibility that the leak might have some truth to it. So what else does the leak mention? Well, a lot of it is pretty reasonable (and may very well just e educated guesses), while some of it is a little harder to believe. Either way, here’s the rundown.

Similar to plenty of speculation and other leaks over the past few months, this leak mentions that Sony will be officially the PS5 this February- on February 5th, to be precise. They will announce a launch date of October 2020, a price of $499/£449, and there will only be one model. That model, supposedly, will be pretty close in terms of specs to the Xbox Series X (though other recent leaks contradict this to some degree), and more powerful than the cheaper Xbox variant, reportedly codenamed Lockhart.

The leak also mentions that the PS5 will launch with Gran Turismo 7, Demon’s Souls remake, MLB The Show 21 (which I assume means MLB The Show 20, since 21 won’t be out till next year), Godfall (which has already been confirmed as a launch title), and a new IP from SIE Santa Monica, supposedly called Legendz. Meanwhile, Sony will also allegedly tease other upcoming first party titles at the reveal event, including a new sci-fi IP from Naughty Dog, new IPs from SIE Japan and SIE London, the Horizon: Zero Dawn sequel, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2Final Fantasy 16, and a new Resident Evil game.

That software lineup is where this leak starts looking a bit less realistic (just seems too good to be true, while I also sincerely hope SIE Santa Monica’s new game isn’t called Legendz)- but hey, you never know. Either way, stay tuned to GamingBolt, and we’ll keep you updated in case there’s any new developments.
