Steam Crosses 18.8 Million Peak Concurrent Users

Valve’s Steam has set a new record for most number of concurrent users. According to SteamDB, it started at 18,537,490 users yesterday and eventually kept going till hitting a peak of 18,801,944 users. Interestingly enough, compared to its last peak of 18.5 million, the number of people in-game is about 1.2 million less.

Regardless, this is another record for Steam which reported 90 million active users per month in 2018. At the time, it was also seeing 47 million daily active users. 2019 was similarly big for the site thanks to releases like Total War: Three Kingdoms, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Destiny 2 and much more.

Though Valve’s crowning achievement continues to be Steam, it has other plans for this year. It will launch Half-Life: Alyx, the first mainline title in the series since Half-Life 2 in 2004, for VR in March. The story takes place before the second game and follows Alyx Vance as she struggles to rescue her father while battling the Combine.
