Along with announcing that the PS4 had shipped 108.9 billion units worldwide, Sony also provided some figures on PlayStation Network revenue in 2019. According to its Q3 FY2019 results, the PlayStation Network generated more than $12.48 billion in revenue. This was due to the PlayStation Store generating $9.28 billion in game sales and digital content like microtransactions, DLC, etc.

PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now subscriptions contributed a third of the total revenue at $3.20 billion. Overall, last year for the PlayStation Network was its second highest ever in terms of revenue generations (and the highest ever for services). A total of 103 million players spent an average of $90.14 on the Store while 40 million PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now subscribers spent $6.66 per month on average and $79.92.

All of this serves as strong momentum for Sony as it approaches the end of this fiscal year where it’s projected to sell 13.5 million PS4 consoles by March 31st 2020. The PlayStation 5 is out this holiday season with its reveal rumored to be this month. Stay tuned for more details as they arrive.
