Nioh 2’s Number of Main Missions “About the Same” as Nioh 1 – Producer

With Team Ninja’s Nioh 2 coming up next month, there’s quite the excitement around it. The combat has been expanded on with the addition of Yokai abilities and forms, not to mention new enemies and bosses. How will it measure up in terms of gameplay length with the original though?

Speaking to GameSpot, producer Fumihiko Yasuda revealed that the number of main missions is “about the same” as the first game. Total number of playtime hours is a little more difficult to pin down. “It’s lengthwise about the same as Nioh 1, but when we looked at how long it took for the players to complete Nioh 1, it depended on the player, how good they were, how they played it, etc.”

“So it’s hard to say, but when I played the game this past January, it took me 55 hours.” This sounds about right considering Nioh could take over 60 hours to finish if you played the main missions, side missions and, well, died a good amount.

The real question is how many hours can players pour into the post-game. Nioh would add the Abyss and New Game Plus difficulties in subsequent updates along with higher tiers of loot and paid DLC. While Nioh 2 will have three post-launch DLC packs, will there be new end-game activities for players to lose their lives in? We’ll have to wait for more details.
