Gran Turismo Sport

Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo Sport launched in October 2017 and is still going strong. However, it’s perhaps surprising to learn that the racing sim has 8.2 million players. Producer Kazunori Yamauchi revealed this during his opening presentation at GT Sport World Tour Sydney, as per GT Planet.

Interestingly, Yamauchi said that the nine millionth account was recently registered (hinting at the number of players banned since launch). Other interesting stats include 25.5 billion miles or 41 billion kilometers driven since launch. Nearly one billion races have taken place so far with the average speed of racers being 84.2mph.

Even more insane is the fact that 37 million photographs have been taken by players in the past 11 months. Some 30 million vehicle liveries have also been created in that time frame. Gran Turismo Sport is currently available on the PS4 and still sees new content – the last update was in November 2019 and added several new cars, a new circuit and more to the game.
