Reports emerged last week that Nintendo would not be doing its annual June Direct presentation this year due to the company struggling to adapt to work-from-home requirements brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, and more new details have emerged on the matter that make that seem that much likelier.
According to a report by Eurogamer that re-iterates that their June Direct presentation has been delayed due to the aforementioned reasons, it also seems work on their first party games might also be facing issues. With Nintendo developers adapting to remote work, the company reportedly needs more time to develop its own games, which also means they need more time before they can reveal them or share updates on them. That seems to be the reason for the Direct presentation being delayed, and in turn, that is why Nintendo have supposedly contacted third parties – who planned on bringing their own games to the showcase – to tell them that they might have to find other avenues to do so.
It’s worth noting that Nintendo is a notoriously secretive company, so until you hear something official, don’t take anything as gospel. On top of that, the coronavirus situation is one that’s changing practically every day, so things might change very quickly. Either way, we’ll keep you updated as this story develops, so stay tuned.
