Next-gen reveals have been surprisingly subdued all around, and reception to the whole process by larger audiences has been appropriately lukewarm. But of the two upcoming consoles, Microsoft have been much active with sharing new updates and information on the Xbox Series X than Sony have been with the PS5.

We’ve all been wondering just when Sony will do the big blowout reveal event for their new machine, but it’s finally starting to look like the time might be close. Speaking on the Press Start podcast, noted journalist Jason Schreier said that Sony currently have plans to hold “at least one” PS5 reveal event in mid-early June. He did, however, say that their plans could very well change and force a delay due to COVID-19.

“As of right now, as far as I know, Sony is still on track to do at least one thing by early June, let’s say,” Schreier said. “Or by mid-June, let’s say. I almost don’t want to say that, I almost want to take that back, because if COVID forces a delay, people are going to be like, ‘but Jason, you said, but Jason you said!’ So take this all with a giant caveat, that we’re in the middle of an unprecedented global pandemic, and anything can happen as a result of that.”

This is not the first time we’ve heard that the PS5 will be revealed in full in June. Recently, GamesBeat reporter Jeff Grubb also said that the reveal event for the console is currently scheduled for June 4. Then again, we’ve been hearing reports about a PS5 reveal event for months now, and in all likeliness, COVID-19 has forced Sony to change plans- so it’s fair to say that nothing is certain for now.
