The Medium

We got to see a lot of games yesterday as part of Microsoft’s Inside Xbox which will be coming to their next console, the Xbox Series X. Most of those titles were crossgen, but one that stood out the most will actually be next-gen only with The Medium. The horror game looks to take some inspiration from the likes of Silent Hill, even as so far as having the original Composer from that series help out on the score. It seems it will take full advantage of its next gen roots, too.

In an interview with Eurogamer, Lead Designer Wojciech Piejko talked in length about the game. When it came to the technical side of things, he did confirm that the game would support full 4K as well as ray-tracing, meaning this is going to be one pretty spookfest. He also said they want to take advantage of the new SSDs and the more effective background streaming that comes with it, saying, “Immersion is very crucial for us, and having this seamless experience without any interruptions like loading and stuff is perfect for horror games.”

The Medium will release for Xbox Series X and PC this Holiday season.
