While the PS5’s SSD and the improvements it will bring about have been at the forefront of people’s minds since the console’s specs were revealed, other aspects of its hardware have also impressed a lot of people. For instance, Tempest – the console’s new 3D audio engine – has caught the attention of many. Many developers have already spoken about its potential, and another person in the industry excited by its potential is Bradly Halestorm, founder and director of operations of LionWing Publishing, who recently brought over bullet hell shoot em up The Adventures of Ten and Till to the west.

Speaking with GamingBolt, Halestorm said that the Tempest engine personally excites him more than other aspects of the PS5’s hardware, like its CPU or its clock speed, and is looking forward to how it can help get people more immersed in games with better audio.

“You know, features like the Tempest excite me more than GPUs and GPU speeds,” Halestorm said. “For me, there are other ways to get invested and immersed in a game than impressive visuals; audio – and in specific directional audio – is one of those ways, at least for me.”

We’re yet to see how games will be using the Tempest Engine, but the potential of the feature is certainly exciting- hopefully, we’ll be learning a lot more about it in the near future. A PS5 reveal event is rumoured to take place less than a month from now, so perhaps we’ll learn more about it there.

LionWing Publishing recently brought over The Adventures of Ten and Till – developed by a single Japanese developer, Toro Nishino, back in 2016 – to the west. It is not available on PC.
