DiRT 5

One of the early next generation reveals we got was Codemasters’ DiRT 5. The off road focused racing title is looking to tear up the place on both current and next generation consoles. When it comes to said consoles, a lot has been made about various features from both, with one of the biggest praises being toward the PS5’s SSD drive. But today, we actually get a little praise on the other side of the road as DiRT 5‘s Technical Director has good things to say about the Xbox Series X.

David Springate spoke to the official Xbox website about the upcoming racing game. It’s not the first time we’ve heard great things about the next gen version, such as 4k and 120 fps capabilities, but when it came to enhancements for the Xbox Series X, Springate says the biggest thing for him was the SSD, which allowed for almost non-existent loading screens.

“Obviously, that SSD drive is incredible. It’s not like a PC SSD, it’s more than that. Being able to load data so ridiculously fast is not only really impressive but as a developer, it’s very interesting. For DiRT 5, we’re going to be able to get into races super fast. It means no loading screens getting in the way, no dawdling, no looking at my phone, it means that the action will be non-stop.
In the future, I’m really excited to see how this technology is going to change the face of video games because I really believe it will.”

DiRT 5 is set to release later this year for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia. You can also read up on the game’s impressive Career Mode through here.
