Supermassive Games’ next iteration in The Dark Pictures Anthology, Little Hope, is now releasing in Fall. The horror title was originally slated for launch this Summer but has been delayed due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. Supermassive CEO Pete Samuels, who is also executive producer on The Dark Pictures Anthology, recently issued a statement on the same.

“Our industry, and the entire world, have been faced with an unprecedented situation over the last few months. Since the COVID 19 crisis hit in March, Supermassive Games has had our 200 strong team working from home. Our priority, throughout, has been the safety of our team.

“We have now been working successfully at home for some time, with the entire team committed to delivering the best possible games. With that in mind it rests with me to make the unfortunate announcement that Little Hope will be delayed past the summer release already announced, now targeting fall 2020.”

The reason for the delay is to also ensure the safety of “actors and stage crews on whose talents we depend so heavily, other workforces external to our business who all help to create the games we make, and all of the talented people that work within our studio.” The studio is still following advice from the government and industry bodies. Samuels noted that the team “will only embark on any element of development when such advice tells us that it is safe to do so.”

The delay is understandable because, despite the economy being re-opened in countries like the United States, Europe is still very much exercising caution. Supermassive’s office is located in Surrey, England and given the strictness of protocols for the United Kingdom, it remains to be seen if Little Hope even releases by Fall. Nevertheless, we’ll wait for more details in the coming months before jumping to conclusions.

The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope is currently in development for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. You can check out our review for the first game in the series, Man of Medan, here.
