For most of this pre-generational launch, Microsoft has been ahead of the news. They unveiled their next system, the Xbox Series X, and its hardware long before Sony did the PS5. But now things have flipped since Sony finally unveiled their system alongside several games. The event was mostly well received, and now eyes are on Microsoft for their July event and what they can do to get back into the conversation. Well, the Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, isn’t sweating it.

Talking at Game Lab Live, Spencer mentioned the PS5 reveal event. He actually complimented Sony, saying he felt they did a good job with the show, but on the other hand, said after it he wasn’t too worried about Xbox’s position. He said that he still felt good about what they had lined up, and said that the Xbox Series X hardware advantage will show up in time.

“As a competitor it’s great to have them out there now so that we kinda know what the program is. We’ve seen the device, we’ve seen the games.

Just being honest, I felt good after seeing their show. I think the hardware advantages that we’ve built are going to show up as we’re talking more about our games, framerates, and other things.

I thought the games lineup that we’re going to have at launch I felt really good about. We got more clarity on what they’re doing obviously at their show, which helps us focusing more on what we have, and I think that’ll be a strength for us at launch.

So, I thought they did a good job. I thought they do what they do very well, and they did that, but when I think the position that we’re in with the games that we’re going to be able to show and how they’re going to show up, and the hardware advantage that we have, I think we’re in a very good position.”

Spencer wasn’t the only one showing no worry on the Xbox side, as Aaron Greenberg took to his Twitter after the PS5 event to say many of the games shown will look great on the Series X. We know there is a planned event in July for Microsoft for a showcase of their system, but as of yet no date has been set.
