NBA 2K21 current gen 2

2K Games have confirmed the release date of NBA 2K21. The game will be releasing for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on September 4. A next-gen version of the game is, of course, also confirmed, which, according to 2K, is “built from the ground up” for the PS5 and Xbox Series X. That will be coming later, with a release date not yet specified.

What’s curious, however, is that when the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions launch, they will cost $69.99, which is $10 costlier than the standard price of a AAA release, and £64.99 in the UK, up from the standard £59.99. Many have predicted that prices of video games will go up as the development costs go up as well, but the fact that there is no free next-gen upgrade for the game – no Smart Delivery on Xbox, nothing on PS5 either – might add a bit extra sting to this one.

You can spend $99.99 on the Mamba Forever Edition, which, among other things, will include a next-gen upgrade. When asked about Smart Delivery, a 2K spoksperson told IGN, “It’s something we’re interested in, but NBA 2K21 will not support Xbox Smart Delivery.”
