NBA 2K21 current gen 2

While the ball is still up in the air (no pun intended, I promise) about whether or not real life basketball will return soon, the digital sport is well on its way. 2K Games has started rolling out the marketing for their brand of sports title, which includes NBA 2K21. Like all annual sports titles, there’s always a cover star, and this time around the bill is being split between current and next gen systems. We found out the cover for current gen yesterday, and now we get a fresh face, in many senses, for next gen.

As many people expected, the next generation cover will have the New Orleans Pelicans’ Zion Williamson as the cover athlete. Williamson was actually the one highlighted in the original announcement trailer that also promised us two second loading times for the PS5 version. Williamson being on the next generation cover is somewhat symbolic too as he’s only 19, so most likely he is part of the next generation of the actual NBA as well.

This will obviously include the PS5 and Xbox Series X. It’s not clear yet who will be on the PC, Switch and Stadia versions of the game yet. There will also be a Legends Edition that will be revealed soon. NBA 2K21 is set to release sometime later this year.
