We’ve seen all kinds of gorgeous screenshots for Microsoft Flight Simulator but today, Asobo Studio offered some news on the closed beta. More specifically, it revealed the date for when it would announce the closed beta’s release date, which is July 9th. The developer didn’t provide any more details on the closed beta, except that it was on track for releasing later this month.

In the meantime, insiders can expect Alpha 5 to go live on July 9th with more invitations being sent out. Once it’s available, the development will begin work on the closed beta’s launch. Full build notes for the next alpha will be made available after it’s gone live next week.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is currently in development for PC and Xbox One. It doesn’t currently have a release date but it’s perhaps the most ambitious version of the flight sim yet, offering more than two million cities and towns to fly over and over 40,000 real airports. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.
