Microsoft are gearing up for their big next-gen blowout, with the Xbox Games Showcase primed to air on July 23. Major first party reveals are expected, while it’s safe to assume that third parties will also be present. Given the nature of the show, it goes without saying that people are excited- and apparently, you have every reason to be.
Recently, in a Q&A stream (via @Klobrille on Twitter), Geoff Keighley – who will be hosting the hour-long pre-show before the event kicks off – said that Microsoft have a “very strong show” lined up for later this week. Keighley said that they have listened to and tried to address the criticisms for their May event – which was notoriously oversold as something it wasn’t – and that the upcoming event is going to be “a bigger and tighter show.”
Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg recently confirmed that the upcoming show will be roughly an hour-long, and will focus only and entirely on game reveals and updates. The campaign gameplay debut of Halo Infinite has been confirmed. We’re hoping that Fable 4 will finally be announced, and there have been some conflicting reports about whether or not The Initiative’s debut game (rumoured to be Perfect Dark) will be revealed- anything beyond that is entirely up in the air.
Geoff on the main show: "I think Xbox is going to have a really strong show next week. They took all the notes in from May. They'll have a bigger and tighter show. And there is the pre-show which will kind of lead into that and have some games as well."
